Peninsula Valdes

11/20/2013

Peninsula Valdes is the primary calving site for the Southern Right Whale. Almost the entire peninsula is a park and whale watching is
carefully controlled in a small area of the southern gulf. The northern gulf is off limits to powered vessels and is only accessible with permission. The Magellanic Penguin colony is also on the north-eastern tip of the peninsula. Large numbers of elephant seals also
use this peninsula as a birthing and mating location. We had one day here with the Lindblad-National Geographic group.
